EU Related Referendums

A referendum on the accession to the European Union took place in May 2003. Most of the main political actors took a positive stance to the accession issue. The most euro skeptic force turned out to be the conservative Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), which expressed doubts regarding the proposed constitution of the EU and resolutely denied any need for inclusion of the Charter of Rights. However, the KDH did supported membership during the referendum campaign. A convincing 93,71 percent of the Slovaks voted 'YES' in the referendum.
